Navigating through open-plan offices, dealing with a lack of privacy, enduring harsh lighting, enduring interruptions, and being subject to workplace gossip are just a few of the challenges we face in professional settings.
While there are undoubtedly positive aspects such as socializing with colleagues and engaging in meaningful conversations, there are days when we find ourselves struggling to maintain our energy levels, feeling drained without understanding why.
Enter energy protection—a proactive approach to safeguarding our energy and implementing regular practices to enhance our daily performance and motivation.
Here are three key strategies to consider:
Daily practice — People who are susceptible to energy drain - which lets be honest is most of due to our energetic nature - however some can be more than others, for example, sensitives or empaths. So it's vitally important to have a good foundation in place starting from: Rest, Nutrition and Movement - good quality sleep or rest throughout the day if needed, having a good diet of regular and balanced nutritional meals and moving regularly (NHS guidance suggests 150 minutes spread across 4-5 days of the week) Ensuring you are doing these three key things lays down the foundation to prepare your physical body for the day ahead before you can begin to work on the emotional or mental and other subtle energy bodies.
Energy techniques and tools: There is an abundance of tools we can use now to reset our energy starting from meditation and mindfulness to visualization techniques, grounding, meditation, taking a walk in nature, to movement, dancing, shaking or having and holding crystals, smudging or sage and of course cleaning our physical space even having a therapy session, from talking therapies to other complementary therapies that involve relaxation and increasing the circulation within the physical body.
Healthy boundaries: These are specifically key in supporting our emotional and mental health. Setting boundaries that safeguard your energy and prioritize tasks aligned with your goals help you to feel more aligned as you navigate the energy of the day. Learn to say no to projects or engagements that do not serve your objectives or drain your energy reserves. Maintain an optimal schedule that allows you to honor your energy levels and tackle tasks methodically.
By understanding our energy, we gain the power to shape our responses and perspectives in any situation. Taking ownership of our energy levels empowers us to approach challenges from a higher vantage point.
At the end of each day, engage in practices that cleanse your energy field; take a refreshing shower or indulge in a bath with magnesium salts.
By starting to implement small, consistent practices to enhance your energy. You'll begin to notice immediate and lasting improvements in your performance and motivation, which can positively influence those around you and your environment.
